Taking Better Portraits – 10 Great Tips

Posted date:  May 2, 2014  |  No comment

10 tips for taking better portrait images are discussed here in this article. Tips are;
(i) Always try to look the subjects of the image at their eyes. Let them be adult (or) children. Always look for their eye level and take the photo shoot. This will provide more natural posture.
(ii) Always try to locate more natural, simple and plain backgrounds. If the disturbing backgrounds are there, it will create unwanted presence in the portrait.
(iii) It is a misconception that outside, when light is bright like a bright sunlight, we need not to use flash light. This is wrong. In bright natural sunlight, your subject image is affected by creating a shadow around your face. So, use flash instead.
(iv) Keep your subjects in front of light source.
(v) Sometimes you need to be a director to decide the better posture for your image.
(vi) There is no hard and fast rule that all the time you need to keep your subject at the center of the frame. Sometimes, keeping the subject at the left (or) right side of the frame is also producing attractive portraits.
(vii) When time is there, create candid photographs. These candid will create more natural activities.
(viii) Sometimes, you need to find space for avoiding disturbances like fence, wall, etc. No need for that. Choose longer focal length and that will blur the unwanted items.
(ix) Always try to go closer to your subject.
(x) When your subject lays over reflection mediums, take the shot.
