Tips on Taking Market Photos

Posted date:  September 27, 2013  |  No comment

Photography in a marketplace is a great way to get pictures of elaborate displays of produce, as well as personal interactions. Keep in mind, though, to secure your equipment. You want to find a time to go when the weather will be clear, and ideally will want to go early in the day before too many people arrive. This also has the benefit that food will appear fresher. As marketplace vendors want people to buy their products, you will likely always find something that’s appealing enough for a photograph. For photos of produce, you’ll want a long zoom lens. It’s also interesting to take pictures that will give the viewer a sense of perspective in the marketplace. For these pictures, you’ll want a wide-angle lens. As for camera supports, you should avoid taking a bulky tripod and instead should rely on either a small monopod or anti-shake features. You also don’t want to deal with a flash, as this will likely be too powerful. Instead, you should use the exposure lock function of your camera to avoid your camera being blinded by extremely bright sources of light (such as the sun in covered areas). The extra light will underexpose certain areas, making the scene illegible. If you manage to get the light levels under control, you can have some amazing scenes.

A vantage provides advantage Have you seen professional photographers carrying around small ladders at weddings? It’s because the vantage matters.
