Pentax Flower Photography Tips

Posted date:  September 27, 2013  |  No comment

Photography of floral arrangements and wildflowers can be an interesting way to get started with photography, and there are a few tips that you can follow to make things more professional. First, you should focus on small groups, or single flowers. For shots of single flowers, an 18-35mm lens is a great way to get a close-up. Shooting from a low angle can help you get a much cleaner background, and a macro lens is a great idea if you want to fill the frame. A sharp background is bad, as it will distract viewers from what you want them to see. However, if you focus too strongly on the foreground, some of the actual flowers may turn out to be blurry. If it is impossible to resolve background issues with focus, you might try using a colored card or other simple backdrop to hide the real background. Pentax cameras sometimes have a depth-of-field view which will assist in determining what is in focus. There may also be a shake reduction mode, which can assist if you don’t want to use a support for the camera or if it will not work out (for instance, you’re too low to the ground). Live View will also help with lower angled shots if looking down the viewfinder is impractical.
